Getting Along With Others

The Bible has a lot to say about how we are supposed to get along with others.

There is a long quote from Colossians in Here is the first part. Colossians 3:13-14 “Get along with each other. If someone does wrong to you forgive that person because the Lord forgave you. Do all these things, but most important, love each other. Love is what holds you all together in perfect unity.”

Forgiveness is talked about a lot. In order for God to forgive us, we must forgive others. When praying you can tell God you need help doing this. Jesus emphasized forgiving others. When asked how many times we should forgive someone he said, 70 times 7.

There is a good article on, “10 Verses to Help Us Deal With Difficult People.” One insight the author gives us is that we shouldn’t be making a fuss over small things: “…the Bible teaches us that God is a God who values unity and peace, not quarreling and strife. It’s so sad to see so many believers nowadays making such a big fuss out of small things such as the differences that they have. God calls us to set these differences aside and to love and respect one another whether or not it seems convenient to not even bother.”

Romans 14:13, “Then let us no more pass judgement on one another, but rather decide never to put a stumbling block or hindrance in the way of a brother.”

Proverbs 10:12. “Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all offenses.”

Proverbs 15:1. “A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.”

Some of the verses I found on

John 13:34. “A new commandment I give unto you, That you love one; another even as I have loved you, that you also love one another.”

John 14:19-21 “We love him, because he first loved us. If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? And this commandment have we from Him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.”

Prayer – Remember, we need to ask forgiveness of our sins and we need to forgive others. A prayer starting with sins followed by asking for God’s help in getting along.
