What does God need to hear from us in order for us to be heading towards Heaven (It’s still thy, or God’s will. His final say)?
A disciple asked Jesus how to pray to God. Jesus said the words to The Lord’s Prayer. Yes, in one of the gospels it is very close to what people call The Lord’s Prayer.
First though, if it has been a long time since you have prayed, I think it’s a good idea to list your sins in a separate prayer, repent (you have remorse), ask for forgiveness with the intent of not committing the sin again, and forgive all of the people who have committed sins against you. God cannot forgive us our sins unless we forgive those who have sinned against us.
But, God is there to help you forgive other people. I look at it like this – I will most likely get to a place of forgiveness for all. Until I do God is holding that forgiveness for me until I can take it over. YES! The Angels in their very quiet voices said yes (one by each ear).
If you are pretty much caught up on your sins and forgiving, you can go straight to The Lord’s Pray and just cover your sins and forgiving during the prayer or after.
Our Father, Who art in Heaven, Hallowed be Thy name.
Thy Kingdom come, Thy Will be done,
On Earth, as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us,
Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil,
(This next par has been added and isn’t in the Bible)
For Thine is the Kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever.
