There were two girls who I met in orchestra. Roseanne Christianson played the violin. Dorothy White played the cello. I played the violin. They were one grade behind me. One day they said that they were fasting. I asked them why. They explained the fasting to me. I thought it was a great idea.
The Mormon Church was adjacent to my elementary school. The Church on Wheels was parked there. I bet I knew a lot of Mormon kids, but didn’t know they were Mormon. Kids don’t talk about those types of things at school. Best group of kids ever. K-12. I was never once teased about my buck teeth and glasses (missing teeth -bad). By the time I got to Fullerton High, the school was pretty diverse. The great part was that we never really thought of it being diverse. We just all got along.
